How to "Trick" Your Friends and Colleagues into Becoming Part of a PLN

With my new exercise regime, I look forward to the days that I do cardio on the recumbent bike, as it makes for 40 minutes of reading my Twitter feed and sharing powerful educational links with my fellow Twitter followers and also my Facebook friends.

Those folks that I follow and that follow me on Twitter are intentional members of my PLN. However, my Facebook friends are typically just that, friends. I have recently opened up my Facebook friend list to my former co-workers. Many of these former co-workers stated that they didn't have time for Twitter or creating a PLN.

With the help of #Hootsuite, I am able to share educational/professional links via many social media formats. So now, those folks that don't follow outstanding educational leaders on Twitter are still getting the same information on Facebook as if they were an intentional member of my PLN. Many even respond to the post or share it out to their friends on Facebook.

Even though most of my fellow friends and colleagues use Facebook for a more personal nature, they are a member of an educational PLN, even though they may not know it. They receive and share information that benefits others, one of the pillars of a PLN.
